The Cavaliers announced yesterday that they have waived guard Tarence Kinsey.
Kinsey, who played just one season with the team, was set to earn over $900,000 dollars during the 2009-10 campaign.
He played in 50 games during the 2008-09 regular season, averaging 2 points in those contests. TK, as he is commonly reffered to as, scored in double-digits twice for the Cavaliers. On January 23rd against the Golden State Warriors he scored 11 points on 3-5 shooting. He scored 11 points once again on February 24th, this time against the Memphis Grizzlies.
A recent arrest may have played a part in the release of Kinsey. He was charged with drunken driving in June in Tampa, Florida.
Another factor is the growing number of players on the team’s roster. They have signed Anthony Parker and Jamario Moon this offseason, which brough their total number of players under contract to 13. They still have plans to sign more free agents and Kinsey must have seemed expendable.
